Travel is one of the most powerful forms of education. Like the root of the word ‘education’ itself, ‘to be led forth’, travel awakes the imagination by cultivating a deep sense of wonder and by shaping ideas into lived experiences.

When we travel, foreign languages are suddenly transformed into personal expressions, success is not measured by grades but by confidence gained. Simple interactions with locals, participating in traditions, and living history through the architecture of homes and cities can transform the work of education into the wonder of exploration.

Places, people, cultures, and historic moments cease to be subjects of study and become the foods we eat, the music we hear, and the places we walk, touch, and see. Travel can be one of the most rewarding expressions of education; it can help to shape student’s affections by transforming them into real joys; it can take the seeds of interest and plant them in deep love of discovery.

This tour was magical! Jesse, tour guide and fearless leader, is completely genuine! He managed to plan every detail imaginable and still embrace the unexpected moments and opportunities. Sharing these experiences with an awesome group of travelers was the icing on the cake!

This trip was all we had hoped it would be. Alithea provided a full itinerary with historical and archaeological exploration, local cultural participation , adventure and , of course,  fun. The dinners and lunches provided were fabulous and our group was the absolute best companions  from around the country (and even the world !!) I will continue to watch for further offerings and I am sure will be booking again with Jesse and his organization.

The small group size was ideal. The attractions chosen were a perfect blend of history, culture and local flavor. No doubt I would book another tour with Alithea Travel and have recommended the tour to other travelers already.

So many great moments, I cannot possibly pick one! The history explanations in all the stops, the cultural activities (Turkish bath, lunch with grandma, pottery lesson, and carpet weaving), taking a dip in the water in Kuşadası, and of course tour guide Mert!
