Soul of Sardinia

Ancient Traditions & Timeless Hospitality

A ten day immersive journey for Rhonda and friends. You'll experience the heart of Sardinia, where rich traditions, stunning landscapes, and warm hospitality collide in daily life. Slow down to the rhythms of island life through local cuisine, historic villages, coastal beauty, and meaningful encounters that reveal a side of Italy few travelers ever see.

Authentic Italy
Unlike the highly visited cities like Rome or Florence or the coasts of Amalfi or Liguria, Sardinia is one of the last places in Italy that retains its authentic roots and mysterious pre-Roman traditions.
Cooking & Wine
Whether visiting vineyards, cooking in the kitchens typical of Sardinian grandmothers, or simply enjoying the food and wine of everyday meals, this aspect of the trip will immerse you in a way of life that encourages slowing down and savoring every moment.
Community and the Sacred
Sardinia shares the profound peace that comes from remembering you belong to something larger than your anxieties, to cycles of planting and harvest, to communities that honour their ancestors, to landscapes that have sustained life for millennia without exploitation and the sacred geometry of the natural world.
Italy's Most Beautiful Beaches
Immerse yourself in pristine Mediterranean waters: from hidden coves accessible only by boat to dramatic beaches where limestone cliffs plunge into turquoise depths, these wild shores remain largely untouched by modern development. In this untouched wilderness, far from the noise of bars and party crowds, you’ll rediscover the profound healing that comes when nature holds you exactly as you are, asking nothing but your willingness to receive her endless, quiet grace.
Blue Zone Longevity
As one of the world’s rare Blue Zones, Sardinia offers a model of lasting health rooted in daily movement, simple food, and strong community. It’s a place where longevity isn’t a set of life hacks but as the very fabric of living consistently and well.

Italian Island Life

This journey is an invitation to step into the living heart of Sardinia together. Over ten days you’ll roll up your sleeves in cooking classes, drink local wines, and meet generous shepherds, master mask makers, and families who open their homes and traditions to you.

You’ll wander among sacred wells and powerful nuraghi that whisper of Bronze Age mysteries, sail along wild coastlines and dramatic cliffs, explore open courtyards during Cortes Apertas, and drive rugged roads to enchanting fishing villages like Bosa.

You’ll return with something our world desperately needs: a vision grounded in deep time, where the rhythm of seasons becomes more real than the urgency of deadlines, and where true wealth emerges from tending relationship and remembering that you belong to cycles of planting and harvest, to communities that honour their ancestors, and to landscapes that have sustained life for millennia without exploitation.

Ancient Traditions, Cooking & Wine

Far from mainland Italy’s rush, this journey invites you into the authentic rhythm of Sardinian life—where ancient history, dramatic landscapes, and enduring traditions are woven together. With local expert Dr. Anna Corrias, you’ll explore the island’s rich heritage, from Bronze Age nuraghi and sacred sites to vibrant villages that continue to celebrate time-honored customs.

Along the way, experience Sardinia through its people: share meals rooted in local ingredients, learn traditional recipes, meet artisans and shepherds, and take part in festivals that open a window into everyday life. From mountain communities to sparkling coastlines, each day offers a different perspective—whether sailing along rugged shores, wandering historic towns, or gathering around the table in warm hospitality.

This is more than a tour of places—it’s an immersion into a living culture, shaped by land, history, and community, where past and present exist in the space of everyday traditions and life.

Bread, Music, and the Art of Slowing Down

In the island’s remote villages, where you’ll sleep in traditional stone houses, the Sardinian culture isn’t museum history – it’s morning bread, evening songs, and hands that still know how their ancestors touched the earth, shaped clay, and wove wool with reverence for the gifts of field and flock. Cook in kitchens thick with wood smoke with village grandmothers. Break bread with shepherds and listen to their voices rising in canto a tenore, an ancient form of polyphonic singing that mimics the sounds of wind, animals, and the natural world itself, weaving human voices into the landscape. Listen to the island’s breath itself through the launeddas, triple-reed instruments carved from plants that grow along sacred streams.

Soul Restoration and Beautiful Beaches

Immerse yourself in pristine Mediterranean waters: from hidden coves accessible only by boat to dramatic beaches where limestone cliffs plunge into turquoise depths, these wild shores remain largely untouched by modern development. A Christian Classical Approach to Travel
Travel encourages a living experience of art, history, and ideas that transforms the classroom into an immersive experience of truth, beauty, and goodness. Museums, meals, archeological sites, and foreign languages are not merely artifacts that help students consider the world, they cultivate a love of wonder, moral imagination, and a rich understanding of the truth. More than a student trip, travel is an invitation to become a lifelong practitioner of the loves that shape the soul.
The Prayerful Traditions of Europe
Rather than treating churches and monasteries as defunct historical monuments, Alithea and Oakdale Academy invite students to approach them as places of prayer and worship
